OREANDA-NEWS. May 22, 2012. Safety is of utmost importance at Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company. To improve safety, Tata Power’s Maithon power plant organised an 'off-the-job safety session' for the ladies club at Dhanbad. The initiative is in line with Tata Power’s efforts to extend safety to the homes of its employees and educate family members as well.

A one-hour safety session was conducted by the Maithon team for 30 members. The programme is aimed at giving them insight on various precautions they should take while cooking, using electrical appliances, using escalators, etc. The session involved active interaction through sharing of practical experiences, success stories and video clips for education. The programme also created awareness on safety in routine life.

Speaking on the occasion, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, station head, Maithon power plant, said, “We are happy to conduct such sessions on safety for the family members of our employees. It is important to develop a culture of ‘safety’ both at the workplace and home to make it the DNA of the organisation.”

Appreciating the initiative, Ashok Wankhede, head, eastern region, said, “Off-the-job safety ensures an 'integrated safety approach'. If we train employee family members along with employees on safety aspects, then it percolates as a culture in the family and eventually becomes the culture of the company.”
