OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2012. Veiko Vaske, a former member of the Public Procurement Appeals Committee and one of the authors of current Public Procurement Act joined law firm SORAINEN in Estonia at the beginning of May. The first possibility to hear Veiko Vaske as well as ask questions will already be on 12 June, at a SORAINEN business breakfast “Latest developments in public procurement law”. As always, the event is free for all SORAINEN clients and close cooperation partners.

Veiko Vaske has been working in the field of public procurement since 2003. He has successfully represented the state in administrative proceedings in appeals against decisions of the Public Procurement Appeals Committee. Moreover, Veiko has extensive experience in implementing tax, environmental and construction law, as well as other fields of public law.

“The addition of a former "public procurement judge” allows us to better approach client cases from the perspective of a judge, which in turn enables our clients to manage their procurement issues more effectively," comments Carri Ginter, partner with SORAINEN and regional head of the Public Procurement Practice. "We already have several experienced lawyers advising clients in public procurement procedures, so adding Vaske to the team serves our strategic goal of building a strong and diverse team. His extensive experience will surely contribute to the efficient handling of cases. Additionally, we will definitely be offering training possibilities for our clients, including client-specific internal training."

From 2003 to 2007, Veiko worked at the Ministry of Finance where he mainly concentrated on matters involving Estonian public procurement legislation and policy making. As a representative of Estonia, Veiko participated in the decision making process and drafting of European Union public procurement directives and remedies directives. Later, as a member of an expert committee established to amend the Estonian Public Procurement Act, he participated in drafting and processing various legislative acts in the field of economic law.

Veiko is a recognised seminar and training speaker amongst government agencies and entrepreneurs and has lectured on training courses for judges and attorneys. He is also a procurement law lecturer at Tallinn School of Economics. Veiko has published articles on public procurement and co-authored the International Handbook of Public Procurement by a publishing house belonging to the well-known Taylor & Francis Group, and Guidelines on Public Procurement issued by the Estonian Ministry of Finance.
