OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2012. The situation of all shared oil and gas fields will be determined up to the end of current Iranian year on 20th March 2013.

Addressing the ceremony of introducing petroleum ministry’s new chief for security organization, Iranian minister of petroleum, Rostam Qasemi, said development of oil and gas fields, completing ongoing projects, paying special attention to training, expanding cooperation with universities, focusing on development of shared oil and gas fields and supporting human resources are among the priorities of the ministry.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said: ‘We have promised Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, to finalize the situation of all shared oil and gas fields up to the end of current year’, adding ‘We should complete the task ahead of schedule’.

Early this month the minister visited Kish gas field, as the biggest independent gas field of the country, stating the field is not only able to meet domestic needs but can supply gas to the region.

Qasemi called on accelerating development of the gas field calling National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and its subsidiaries to complete drilling operations as soon as possible and prepare the ground for gas production.

He said bulk of Iran’s gas reserves is located in Kish gas field so withdrawing gas from the field will foster development.
