OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2012. The Sirius 5 spacecraft built by Space Systems/Loral, USA for SES, Luxemburg, a global communications satellite operator, has arrived at the Baikonur Cosmodrome to be processed for the forthcoming launch.

The aircraft that delivered the shipping containers with the spacecraft and its ground support equipment landed at the Yubileiny airfield.

Sirius 5 was then moved from the airfield to Integration-and-Test Facility 92A-50. After the spacecraft is mounted on the test facility, is inspected and accepted the U.S. experts will begin its stand-alone tests.

The Proton M/Breeze M launch services for the Sirius 5 mission were contracted by International Launch Services Inc. (ILS), a Russia-U.S. joint venture.
