OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2012. Exploratory activities will be extended to all parts of the country including central part of Iran and South Khorasan and North Khorasan provinces in northeast of the country.

The National Iranian Oil Company’s director for exploration, Seyyed Mahmoud Mohades, made the above remarks adding NIOC plans to extend exploratory activities beyond west and southwest to north and north east of the country.

‘Despite this, exploration will be concentrated in west and southwest, the official said adding drilling operations which started last year in six oil and gas fields including Khayyam, Farzad A and Delavaran will be continued this year.

Mohaddes said seismic imaging which had started last year in 210 kilometers of the area surrounding Farzad B in Persian Gulf, was completed in March 2012.

Dubbing last year's performance of exploration department ‘successful’ Mr. Mohades noted that the department’s activities during last year were three times above its obligations.

Last December Iran’s minister of petroleum, Rostam Qasemi, announced discovery of a new field with remarkable gas reserves in waters of the Caspian Sea which was named Kochak khan Jangali.
