OREANDA-NEWS. May 29, 2012. Under an investment project, a new railway crane was supplied to the Gorny track section of Borodinsky open-pit mine, a subsidiary of OJSC SUEK-Krasnoyarsk. The diesel-electric KZh-662 boasting the 32 tonne load capacity, manufactured at Kirovsky mashzavod (Kirovsky engineering works) is designed for rail dismantling and laying.

The new machine features an optimised control system. "The previous generation cranes were run using less practical controllers that would switch rigidly and wear out rapidly, but now all machinery are operated using joysticks, so it is easier to use the control system," explains Yevgeny V. Sharapov, the electrician at the Gorny track section.

The operator's working place has also been improved. The cab is lined with noise insulation and equipped with modern ventilation system, an air conditioner and a heater. The crane's hydraulic system is fit to stand the temperatures from -40 to plus40 degrees. Currently, the Gorny track section specialists are busy preparing the crane for work.

At the moment, the running-in of the crane is underway, with the diesel generator set being run in idle, mechanisms being tested, and the diesel engine itself being run-in to keep the crane available in future and to extend its service life as much as possible.

After registration in Gostechnadzor and technical testing the crane will be put to work on the line.
