OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2012. Ukraine is interested in organizing direct deliveries of Turkmen gas to Ukraine. This was declared by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov at a briefing in Ashgabat.

He stressed the signed agreement establishing a free trade zone in the CIS and Ukraine insists on implementing its provisions on ensuring free access to gas transmission systems of the CIS countries. Therefore, the issues of supplying Turkmen gas volumes have been discussed during PM’s meeting with President of Turkmenistan

However, tomorrow, on May 30, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov meets with the Chairman of RF Government Dmitry Medvedev where to be discussed issue of how Russia will be able provide Turkmen gas pumping via its gas pipeline system.

"We have gained in the Treaty establishing a free trade area in the CIS of a special article which regulates access to the gas transportation system by the treaty parties. We also expect that in the review process of gas contract 2009 regarding the supply of gas and conditions of its transit, we are to discuss this issue with Russia’s leadership. Tomorrow we put this matter to Dmitry Medvedev," said Mykola Azarov.
