OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2012. Gas production in Azerbaijan started falling, though SOCAR continues to rise its extraction.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) reported that in April 2012 gas production by the Company reached 562.87 million cu m against 553.9 million cu m in March, 553.88 million cu m in February and 603.2 million cu m in January 2012 . In the first triannual of the year  gas extraction by the company reached 2.273 bn cu m versus 7.084 bn cu m in 2011.

Country’s overall gas extraction in April amounted to 2.057 bn cu m against 2.13 bn cu m in March, 2.12 bn cu m in February, 2.416 bn cu m in January 2012. In the first triannual of the year  the country produced 8.725 bn cu m versus 25.75 bn cu m in 2011.

Peak gas production by SOCAR was recorded in 2009 – 7.75 bn cu m and by the country as a whole in 2010 – 26.349 bn cu m.

In 2011, peak production by the Company was registered in May when SOCAR extracted 609.7 million cu m and the country as a whole in October (2.26 bn cu m).
