OREANDA-NEWS. June 1, 2012. Subsidiary company of GPB (OJSC) has acquired 21.74% stake in Energie du Porcien SAS from Akuo Energy SAS. Energie du Porcien SAS is the owner and operator of two wind farms with a total capacity of 39 MW in France, Ardennes – Champagne. The wind farms were successfully commissioned at the end of 2011.

Akuo Energy SAS remains a majority shareholder of Energie du Porcien SAS. GPB (OJSC) and Akuo Energy SAS plan long-term fruitful cooperation in the green energy field in Europe and Russia.

Wolfgang Skribot, Managing Director, Head  of Energy & Infrastructure in Direct Investment Department said: “We see a great potential for development of alternative energy and green projects in Russia. Acquisition of shares in Energie du Porcien could be regarded as learning experience of green projects in Europe where the market has been actively developing during the last 20 years”.

GPB (OJSC) is the third largest Russian bank investing and lending to companies in major sectors of economy in Russia and worldwide. Acquisition of the stake in Energie du Porcien SAS is the first investment of GPB (OJSC) in renewable energy in Europe.

Akuo Energy SAS is a private group, which specializes in the development, the construction and the operation of industrial power production plants from renewable resources. Akuo Energy SAS has 33 projects currently in operation with an overall capacity of 435.2 MW and 100 projects in development totalling 2,879.5 MW. Currently, Akuo Energy SAS has offices and major projects in France, Poland, Turkey, Uruguay, Croatia, Montenegro, Indonesia and the United States.
