OREANDA-NEWS. June 04, 2012. Following a policy of Ukraine's energy independence, the Government is to continue mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia on energy issues. This was declared by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in the Facebook social network, replying to a question: whether help the agreements in the energy sector with other countries to the Government get rid of Ukraine's gas dependency on Russia (what is at issue is of gas supplying from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Qatar, as well as Ukraine's participation in construction of Trans-Caspian gas pipeline).

"The Government pursues a policy of our country's energy independence. And everything we are doing now will make it possible us to accomplish this task in 3-5 years. But this doesn't mean after that we will refuse a mutual cooperation with Russia on energy issues. We just don't want a 100% to depend in matters of supply energy from one country as it is now," Mykola Azarov stressed.
