OREANDA-NEWS. June 07, 2012. Mr. Abdulkareem Liaybi the Iraqi minister of oil & the minister of power Mr. Kareem Aftan met with the Iranian oil minister Rustom Kassemi whom visited Iraq with a formal delegation joined the Iranian deputy oil minister for gas affairs and the Iranian deputy oil minister for up streaming affairs in addition the director general of OPEC in Iran.  To sign an agreement of mutual cooperation in the aspect of power & oil,

The two oil ministers reviewed the achieved common agreements in addition to some discussions about the agreement of cooperation in exploration, drilling and up streaming.

Mr. Liaybi shown that Iraq appreciates the mutual relations by signing cooperation agreements In the different aspects especially in the power and oil industry inviting the specialized companies to contribute in the projects that are declared by the Iraqi oil ministry.

Mr. Liaybi shown that Iraq is in need for more quantities of gas oil and depends on Iran to complete a part of its needs in addition to the production of the oil ministry of the oil products.

The spokesman of the oil ministry Mr. Assim Jihad ensured that, Iraq represented By Mr. Liaybi and Iran represented by Mr. Kassemi signed an agreement of cooperation.

And added that the agreement included the confirmation of the two countries to increase the mutual cooperation in the exploration, drilling, up streaming training, and associated coordination in OPEC, in addition to the keenness of the two countries to speed up to reach an agreement of the best investment for the associated fields to guarantee the rights of the two countries.  And shown that the associated technical committees between the two countries are going on to find solutions after the visit of the Iraqi technical side to Iran a week before the meeting.

From his part Mr. Kassemi ensured that his country is committed by the contracts with the Iraqi oil ministry to supply it with the oil products like kerosene and gas oil for the power stations and to finish the project of the gas pipe line extension to the power stations in July in addition to supply Iraq with electric power and discuss the capability of increasing the quantities to meet the Iraqi needs and develop the relations between the two countries.
