OREANDA-NEWS. June 9, 2012. Staff members of the executive board of IDGC of Volga, JSC conducted a traditional lesson on electrical safety. This event was held for 6-8 grade pupils who like to spend their time on the playground near the specialized secondary school No. 6. In the format of answers and questions, power engineers provided useful information on electricity, a form of energy which plays a huge part in our everyday lives, keeping our houses warm and well lit. Electricity can be a friend, if used wisely and safely, as well as it can be our enemy too, if misused. That is why one should always follow basic safety rules to prevent electrical hazards. Aleksey Volgin, Head of Occupational Safety Department of IDGC of Volga, JSC, placed a special emphasis on appropriate use of household electrical appliances, necessity to follow precautions near power transmission lines and transformer substations and tips for staying safe during a thunderstorm. To memorize the rules better, children participated in various entertaining activities, including quizzes, crosswords, etc. After that, power engineers presented the children with badges with electrical safety tips. Another gifts included a set of colorful placards for “Electrical Safety” stand and a thematic table game designed by power engineers. When playing this game featuring characters of the Russian fairy tales, schoolchildren will be able to revise electrical safety rules. Administrative staff of the school asked the power engineers to conduct such lessons on a regular basis. During the summer holidays, employees of IDGC of Volga, JSC will carry out similar activities for children in summer camps and playgrounds.
