OREANDA-NEWS. June 19, 2012. The delegation of Moscow Metro took part in the Policy Board meeting of UITP (International Union of Public Transport) and visited the European exhibition of public transport held in Paris on June 6-8, 2012.

The Policy Board meeting brought together operators and manufacturers from all over the world. Fare regulation policy, interoperable ticketing and transport challenges in London before the Olympic Games were high on the agenda.

The European exhibition of public transport was an excellent platform for the industry: it featured the latest developments in rolling stock, navigation and information systems etc. The Head of Moscow Metro Ivan Besedin expressed keen interest in the Grand Paris project aimed to improve transportation in the suburbs. The ambition plan will feature the construction of two big circle lines around Paris. Ivan Besedin explained to the leaders of the Grand Paris project that the development plans of Moscow Metro were similar to those of the French colleagues and discussed traffic management at the busiest interchange stations.

The Head of Moscow Metro also joined the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin on his technical visit to the automatic lines of Paris metro.
