OREANDA-NEWS. June 20, 2012. Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen held a working conference devoted to issues of implementation of the Yalguba ski resort construction project. Alexander Voronov, acting Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia and acting Minister of Youth Affairs, Physical Training, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Karelia, Valentina Baikova, acting Minister of Construction of the Republic of Karelia, investors and engineers took part in the conference. The conference participants discussed the ways of speeding up the resort construction.

According to Head of Karelia, Yalguba ski resort has a favourable location with a good vertical drop of the slope and may become an attraction for citizens of Petrozavodsk and the republic, as well as for tourists. Young downhill skiers from children's and youth sports schools, as well as schoolchildren willing to learn to ski will be also able to practise there.

As Alexander Khudilainen mentioned during the conference, this year it is necessary to fulfil the first stage of the project: a ski lift, lighting and minimum infrastructure have to appear at the ski resort.

The project is expected to be implemented on terms of public-private partnership.

On the instructions of Head of Karelia a working group will be established under the direction of Alexander Voronov in order to speed up the fulfilment of the Yalguba project and to coordinate its implementation.
