OREANDA-NEWS. June 21, 2012. Extending a taxable base instead of raising taxes is the most effective method to provide financial stability of Moldova, - IMF. This was announced by Menno Snel, IMF Executive Director for a group of countries among which there is Moldova too, with Vice Premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar. Menno Snel, who presented Moldova at the Board of Governors of IMF, expressed willingness of the Fund to continue assisting Moldova in consolidating its fiscal and customs administration.

According to Valeriu Lazar, for this process to be of success, the state has to be trustworthy, which is possible only by providing fair administration and civil attitude to tax payers. Menno Snel spoke for Moldova to continue pursuing reforms for a better business climate and a better position of the country in international ratings. The IMF Executive Director remarked that Moldova is one of the smallest states in the group he heads.

At the same time, our country is very respectable since it is consistent in implementing programs coordinated with IMF. Menno Snel arrived in Chisinau to better understand a situation arisen in our county in the very difficult period for its economy. According to him, influence of financial markets can not be underestimated.

“Even if our actions are guided by fundamental economic principals, markets are expecting the government to follow predictable inner and outer policies and to assume measures to moderate possible economic shocks”, the IMF Executive Director remarked.
