OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2012. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the decline is determined by lower prices for some goods included in the minimum food basket. At the same time, as compared with Q4, 2011 the subsistence wage grew 2,9%.

The subsistence wage in urban areas is 18,4% higher than in villages and equals to 1600,7 leis. In villages it makes up 1351,8 leis. The able -bodied population basket of goods is the most expensive and amounts to 1524,9 leis, being 1598,4 leis for men in particular.

The retiree subsistence wage makes up 1256,7 leis, being 86,3% of the average subsistence level. The children subsistence wage amounts to 1384,6 leis a month, starting from 601,2 leis for u-to-one-year children and finishing with 1528,2 leis for children at the age of 7 to 16. The monthly wage in economy averaged 3193,7 leis in Q1, 2012 and covered the subsistence wage for the able-bodied population 2,1 times.

The maximum subsistence wage coverage was registered in the finance sector (4,2 times), with the minimum one being recorded in fishery, where it was 3% below the subsistence wage. As of April, 2012 the monthly pensions was 874 leis, 7,4% up as compared with the same period of 2011 and 69,5% of the minimum subsistence level.
