OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2012.  Seeking to strengthen its presence on the fast-growing Russian market, Alcatel-Lucent announces an essential expansion of its partnership relations with Russian Technologies, Russia’s largest high-tech corporation.

Today, the companies signed a long-term research and development agreement aimed at advancing sophisticated Long Term Evolution (LTE) services or 4G, new network systems and data transmission innovation technologies to meet a soaring global demand for high-quality broadband connections.

The ceremony of signing this agreement by two companies was held today at the the Second International Forum “Engineering Technologies 2012”. The agreement was signed by Chairman  of the Board of Directors at Alcatel-Lucent Philippe Camus and General Director of Russian Technologies Sergey Chemezov.

“This agreement marks a new stage of our cooperation with Alcatel-Lucent and unlocks a huge potential to establish the future of mobile broadband technologies in Russia. Russian Technologies and Alcatel-Lucent share a common goal to develop innovative solutions to meet social and economic demand for communications systems of the next generation across Russia,” Sergey Chemezov said.

“Russia is one of the fastest-growing markets for broadband services and we are committed to balance this growth with investments in a new telecommunications infrastructure. Our new joint venture with Russian Technologies is another step toward expanding our cooperation and presence on the fast-growing Russian market,” Philippe Camus said.

According to their expanded agreement, Russian Technologies and Alcatel-Lucent will establish and new Moscow-based research and development center which is expected to create new jobs for hundreds of high-professional engineers employed by both companies. The joint venture will be incorporated together with Ruselectronics, a Russian Technologies’s holding company. Run by Alcatel-Lucent, the center will be fully integrated into the global network of Alcatel-Lucent research and development centers.

“This joint center established by Ruselectronics and Alcatel-Lucent is the first Russia’s center of the kind and shows our commitment to making Russia a high-tech exporter,” Andrey Zverev, General Director at Ruselectronics, said.

Launched in the 4Q 2012, a new center will be involved in research and development projects designed for global Alcatel-Lucent customers and focus on the development of new mobile broadband solutions and  advancing lightRadio™ products and Alcatel-Lucent network architecture based on sophisticated technologies which enhance performance of the mobile base station and data transfer.

lightRadio is a radical redesign of the mobile network architecture. This new solution will replace conventional mobile network stations with a small-sized cubic elements and centralized processing units to cut energy consumption in high-speed data transmission.

Alcatel-Lucent and Russian Technologies established their first joint venture Alcatel-Lucent RT in 2009 to produce and promote high-tech IP telecommunications equipment across Russia.

The companies will consider other areas to implement joint projects in the Russian Federation.
