OREANDA-NEWS. July 02, 2012. OMK has launched a new highly productive 10-65 mill by Italian MTM at its Almetyevsk Pipe Plant (APP). The investment in the project totals RUB150m.

The mill is designed to produce round and shaped pipes of different sections (from Nominal Bore 15 to 50 and from 15x15 mm top 50x50 mm with the wall thickness from 1.5 to 4 mm) applicable in engineering, construction, furniture making and in the utilities sector. The mill’s capacity is 50,000 tonnes of pipes per year.

Aleksandr Kastravets, OMK’s PR director, Aleksandr Tokarev, Executive Director of Almetyevsk Pipe Plant, and Sergey Dudkin, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of Almetyevsk, participated in the opening ceremony.

Aleksandr Tokarev noted: ‘The launch of the mill is a continuation of the APP upgrade programme aimed at improving and expanding its production capacities. I am particularly pleased to note that the new mill is one of the most state-of-the-art mills in the world. Such capacity expansion will help us considerably increase supplies to our customers, and enter new sales markets.’ In his turn, Aleksandr Kastravets underlined: ‘Over the last seven years, the company invested more than RUB150bn in the development and construction of new capacities at Vyksa Steel Works (Nizhniy Novgorod), Trubodetal (Chelyabinsk Region), the Casting and Rolling Complex (Nizhniy Novgorod Region) and Almetyevsk Pipe Plant (Republic of Tatarstan). The today’s launch of the mill is a part of the strategy designed to enhance product quality and performance, cut down production and energy costs, and improve working conditions. The combination of these factors will increase the competitiveness of OMK’s products.’
