OREANDA-NEWS. July 02, 2012. London, July 02, 2012 Government Procurement Service confirmed that Fujitsu has been awarded a place on eight Lots for the PSN Services framework it originally bid on. The framework, worth up to Ј2bn over the next four years, which aims to save Government over Ј500m during the same period, commenced in June 2012.
The award means that Fujitsu will be able to tender for contracts across all public bodies in the UK including, central government, local authorities, emergency services, health and education providers, in the following categories:
Lot 1 – Communications services
Lot 2 – CCTV
Lot 3 – Conferencing services
Lot 4 – Managed equipment rooms
Lot 5 – Contact centres
Lot 8 – LAN services
Lot 9 – Gateway services
Lot 10 – Unified services
The new PSN Services framework aims to help deliver more efficient procurement and reduce complexity, duplication and cost for all government departments. Fujitsu will draw on four decades’ worth of experience in delivering secure services to the public sector to produce the desired agility and efficiencies required by government organisations.
Depending on the scope of customer requirements, Fujitsu will use its network of SME partners to deliver the best possible solution to public bodies. Over half of its total supplier base is currently comprised of SME partners and 18% of its total Central Government spend already goes to those partners.
Nigel Kirby-Green, executive director, public sector at Fujitsu UK & Ireland, said, “We are delighted to be awarded a PSN Services framework in eight lots – a testament to the work of our dedicated Hosting and Networks division.
“What people may not realise is that much of the infrastructure supporting the UK’s networks is already provided by Fujitsu and, in fact, more than five million households in the UK receive broadband through Fujitsu technology designed and deployed in their local telephone exchange by our engineering teams. Along with our established network capabilities, we believe we bring unique value to PSN buyers through the work we do with our technology partners, including many UK SMEs.”
“We believe that PSN buyers that procure services through us will experience increased choice and access to innovative technologies as a result of Fujitsu’s SME ecosystem. The PSN Services framework offers a great opportunity for our smaller technology partners, as by working with us they will be able to compete for business that they would otherwise be unable to bid for and deliver alone.”
