OREANDA-NEWS. July 03, 2012. On the 29th of June 2012 a general shareholders’ meeting approved an annual public report for 2011 of Rosenergoatom.

Rosenergoatom became the first company of the nuclear industry which annual report was confirmed compliant with international requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative (G3.1 Guidelines). Its information disclosure level is B+. A number of disclosure items increased by 20% as compared to the 2010 annual report.

The safety became the main theme of the report. “Following the traditions of openness and transparency of our activity, we disclose various production, financial, and social performance indicators. In this document we have tried, to the maximum extent possible, to cover issues of increased public interest to Rosenergoatom and nuclear power plants, to the power units’ safety level, to activities in the field of electricity generation and sales, procurement of goods and services, environmental and social policies,” Yevgeny Romanov, Director General of Rosenergoatom, said, addressing the readers.

In 2011 Russia’s nuclear power plants produced 172.7 billion kWh of electricity. This is the best indicator over the entire history of the nuclear utility. The first power of Unit 4 of Kalinin NPP was a milestone event of the year. There was one more important achievement made in 2011: in mid December one-time generated power reached more than 25 GW, adding electricity from Kalinin NPP Unit 4.

As in the preceding years, in 2011 nuclear power plants operated safely and reliably within the united economic system of the country. After the events in Japan, Rosenergoatom implemented a large-scale additional inspection program at operating NPPs and an analysis of designs of NPPs under construction as related to their stability in case of emergencies similar to that of Fukushima. This analysis helped to develop and start implementing a set of measures to ensure additional safety of nuclear power plants in emergencies.

While doing the task of ensuring the energy security of the country, Rosenergoatom continues constructing new and modernizing existing power units. In 2011 Rostechnadzor granted licenses for construction of Baltic NPP and siting of Nizhniy Novgorod NPP.
