OREANDA-NEWS. July 03, 2012. Consorcium MIR.1200 has today handed over its offer for the public tender for completion of 3rd and 4th blocks of NPP Temelнn (Czech Republic) to the energy company CEZ. Leader of the Consortium is the Czech company SKODA JS a.s., which invited Russian firms Atomstroyexport and OKB Gidropress to cooperate on the offer.

The offer for the tender consists of three parts: commercial, technical and about nuclear fuel. Technical part is the largest, comprising of 24 volumes where a detailed description of the offered project of nuclear power plant and the process of its implementation can be found. In total, the documentation covers almost 80 thousand pages. Weight is estimated to be almost 1 tonne. In the last two months, when the offer was being finalised, a team of more than hundred experts of twelve nationalities took part in the preparatory work.

Along with the Consortium members, the general nuclear power plant project designer SPbAEP naturally also cooperated on the tender offer preparation. Important was collaboration with supplier of nuclear fuel producer TVEL, designer of turbine island NIAEP or Atomtechenergo, an organization specialising in launching of nuclear power plants.

“It was particularly the Czech companies, which had an important role in preparation of the fundamental data and figures for the tender bid. These companies will find large involvement in completion of the nuclear power plant in case the Consortium wins the tender,” says Miroslav Fiala, general director and chairman of Board of Directors of SKODA JS, a.s. Among the most significant partners of Pilsen-based SKODA are PSG International, Hochtief, Kralovopolska RIA, Kabelovna KABEX, Chemcomex Praha, Modrany Power, Vнtkovice Power Engineering, Sigma DIZ or I&C ENERGO.

Today’s submission of the offer finally enables the Consortium to introduce many other companies, which will be part of the implementation of the project. The list comprises of up to 350 Czech firms. “I believe that hardly anybody will now accuse us that our commitment to 70% localization is just a marketing slogan”, says general director Fiala.

Czech firms are further complemented by renowned international companies which belong to the world leaders in the area of nuclear energy, for example Alstom which created a joint venture with Russian Atomenergomash or Rolls-Royce. “We very much appreciate the fact that we are members of this truly international team. Rolls-Royce is ready to supply, together with SKODA JS, the system of I&C”, says Jana Kubinova, commercial director of Rolls-Royce for CEE and Russia.

According to independent experts, the MIR.1200 project will enrich the Czech state budget from the taxes collected until 2035 by 1, 524 million EUR. Additional tax revenues will generate up to 842 million EUR thanks to the localization. Implementation of the project in the Czech Republic will create at least 10,000 new jobs.

Consorcium MIR.1200 offers evolutionary project of a nuclear power plant VVER-1200. The project is based on referential solutions that have confirmed their reliability and effectiveness and is unique due to its combination of the most modern active and passive safety systems. This makes it one of the best models of generation 3+ nuclear units. The Consortium offer relies on maximum engagement of the potential of Czech industry. The company Rosatom is ready to transfer the technology and know-how for the manufacturing of key equipment for NPPs to Czech partners. Czech firms will therefore gain all the knowledge that is crucial for providing qualified support to operators of nuclear power plants during their entire life span.
