OREANDA-NEWS. July 03, 2012. SOCAR's top officials met with the delegation of the Argentine Republic at the company's head office in Baku.

 Warmly welcoming the guests, SOCAR Vice President for Investments and Marketing Elshad Nassirov said Azerbaijan was a rapidly developing country and oil and gas industry played an important role in this development. Expressing gratitude for a warm reception, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic Hector Timerman underlined the rising pace of the development of relations between his country and Azerbaijan, which has a strong economic potential. He said they knew Azerbaijan as an ancient oil country and were pleased with their visit to the State Oil Company, the flagman of the Azerbaijan's oil industry.

Stressing the importance of reciprocal visits in the extension and deepening of the relations between the countries, SOCAR Vice President Elshad Nassirov said first democratic republic in the Muslim East was founded in Azerbaijan and the country was developing democratic traditions today.

Focusing on the rich history of oil production in Azerbaijan, contributions of Baku's oil workers to the world's oil industry, large oil and gas fields explored by them in the different national sectors of the Caspian Sea, Nassirov spoke about the activity of foreign investors in Baku since the beginning of the last century. Talking about the new oil strategy implemented after the regaining of Azerbaijan's state independence, Nassirov said the country's proved oil and gas resources reached high level and reliable and diversified oil and gas export pipelines system was created in a relatively short time. He spoke about the achievements reached within the framework of the global and regional oil and gas projects carried out in Azerbaijan today, underlining the important role of Azerbaijan in providing European energy security. He also explained the issues that interested the guests.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic Hector Timerman thanked the Vice president for detailed information and said information about Azerbaijan and its developing economy generated great interest.

At the end of the meeting, books about the history of Azerbaijan's oil industry were presented to the guests.
