OREANDA-NEWS. July 03, 2012. Ural Airlines took part in the opening of the international air routes development forum ROUTES 2012 which took place in Yekaterinburg on Sunday, 24 June. The first day of the Forum saw a plenary discussion on Access to CIS Market: Barriers and Obstacles. Ural Airlines were invited to participate in the discussion as a leader of CIS market operations with a large route network and many years’ work experience on this market. Marianna Galagura, Head of the airline’s International Flight Sales, noted in the course of the discussion that the airline successfully works with CIS countries: the current operations include flights to 47 destinations and the number of passengers is growing year by year. The only constraining factor for the development of full-scale transit traffic can be the requirements of the Russian legislation for passport/visa and customs control procedures.

A total of ~230 delegates representing airports, airlines, and major tour operators from Russia, CIS, and overseas take part in the work of ROUTES 2012.  On the first day of the work, panel discussions took place on the state of the industry and the performance of air transportation development in Russia and CIS. In the evening the opening of the Forum was celebrated by a gala reception. The Forum will continue its work with a series of one-on-one meetings and negotiations.
