OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2012. Russian fertilizer producer Uralkali and Belarus’ Belaruskali plan to establish a joint venture Soyuzkali to sell fertilizers worldwide, Belarusian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Guryanov said on Thursday.

“We plan to have a 50% share for each company in the new venture given their mutual interests. We wouldn’t like to have any conflicts regarding control,” Guryanov said.

Asked where will be the likely location of the headquarters of the joint company, Guryanov said Belarus expected to have a Minsk-based control centre.

Belarusian authorities have proposed locating Soyuzkali’s headquarters in the Belarusian capital Minsk.

Russian and Belarusian potash fertilizers are now exported by the Belarusian Potash Company (BPC), also jointly owned by Belaruskali and Uralkali.

“We are not talking about replacing the BPC. We are talking about a new form of cooperation that would take into account the BPC’s interests. The BPC is working quite efficiency and Soyuzkali is the next step in our cooperation with Belaruskali,” Guryanov said.

Belarus’s First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko has said that Soyuzkali is to be established by the end of the year.
