OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2012. The Head of FAS Igor Artemyev took part in an International Conference - “Competition - a Step Forward in Moldova’s Development” and a Round Table on competition, coinciding with the 5th anniversary of establishing the National Agency of the Republic of Moldova for Protection of Competition, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia. 

The Conference was attended by representatives of the government bodies of the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the competition authorities of the CIS member-states, competition authorities of other countries, international organizations, representatives of judiciary, business-community (including companies with Russian capital) and civil society institutes.

The Conference summed up the results of activities of the National Agency of the Republic of Moldova for Protection of Competition, in particular, emphasizing the efforts towards improving national competition law and outlining prospective priorities. Speakers included Heads of competition authorities of various countries.

Participants were especially interested in a report of the Head of FAS Igor Artemyev on “Modern Antimonopoly Regulation in the Russian Federation”. The report focused on the efforts of Russian antimonopoly authority towards cooperation with competition authorities of other countries in conducting joint studies (investigations), especially on such important markets as oil and oil products, pharmaceuticals, car dealers and some others.

Igor Artemyev stressed that such meetings enable to see a country’s national competition law through the prism of competition laws of other countries.

The Head of FAS, who was recently reelected as the Chairman of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy, emphasized an enormous impact of the National Agency of the Republic of Moldova for Protection of Competition and personally the Head of the Agency Viorica Carare upon developing coherent antimonopoly policy in ICAP member-states.

The Conference became a platform for discussing pressing issues of improving competition law and devising consistent international approaches to suppressing anticompetitive practices and exchanging experience among competition authorities.
