OREANDA-NEWS.  July 06, 2012. PT Pertamina (Persero) expands Pertamax Racing to Sumatera island to meet the rising market demand for quality racing fuel in that region, reported the press-centre of Pertamina.

Pertamina has started the marketing of Pertamax Racing since December 2010, covering wider distribution area. In Java island, as the main market target, the fuel with RON 100.4 can be reached through two agents and around 53 COCO fuel stations in Jakarta, Central Java, and East Java.

As the growing racing competition events require support of quality fuels, Pertamina expands its Pertamax Racing sales network to Sumatera. Palembang is chosen to be the initial opening door for Pertamax Racing in Sumatera after taking several considerations into account, including the frequency of racing events and the distance to supply source.

"Pertamax Racing in Palembang will be distributed by two appointed agents. We will soon expand the distribution line to other big cities in Sumatera, such as Medan, Pekanbaru, and Lampung. Until the end of the year, we target that there will be eight agents and 14 COCO fuel stations that will serve Pertamax Racing customers in Sumatera," said Fuel Marketing and Distribution Senior Vice President of Pertamina, Djoko Prasetyo.

Pertamax Racing is produced by Refinery Unit III Plaju owned by Pertamina so it is the only racing fuel produced domestically. Besides refering to specifications set by Directorate General for Oil and Gas, Pertamax Racing also in line with international standards, Federation International Motor (FIM) and Federation International Automobile (FIA).

"This product is high grade fuel and has been added with additive with special formulation for racing vehicles so it is safe for machine. Besides, Pertamax Racing is also environmentally-friendly because it contains bioethanol and free from tetra ethyl lead (TEL)."
