OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2012. ProfMedia announces the creation of a new television holding, ProfMedia TV, to include television channels TV3, MTV Russia, and 2x2. Nikolai Kartoziya has been named president of the new company.

The new structure will help increase the television channels’ market share, and reduce losses.

“We have been thinking for quite some time about uniting out three television channels. But we came up against the logical question: who will head up the holding? Because the tv boss can’t be just a boss, he needs to be a creative leader and innovator, he needs to have a feel for the important trends, and be able to work in a team. Recently in media, and in tv in particular, there have been big changes but I think that a fundamental metamorphosis is yet to come. I am glad that Nikolai’s professional trajectory has crossed ours at this very interesting time for the industry,” said Raphael Akopov, head of the ProfMedia TV board of directors.

“The television world we’ve grown accustomed to is changing. We see how small tv channels are more and more often able to compete successfully with market leaders. The market for national channels – the younger side of things – is scattering in search of new televisual experiences. And our task is to grab it and not let it go. And for this we need lots of new solutions – so that’s what we’re going to do,” said Nikolai Kartoziya, president of ProfMedia TV.
