OREANDA-NEWS. July 09, 2012. According to the Association of international road haulers, the decline of cargo transportation has been determined by the crisis in EU which triggered the decline of production.

If the decline continues and financial institutions of Italy, Spain and Greece freeze their funds, the cargo transportations indicators will come back to 2008 in Moldova. About 60% of cargo is transported to CIS, however, the goods transported are produced not in Moldova but abroad. That is why road haulers are dependent on economic stability in Europe.

According to the Statistical Committee of CIS,the colume of cargo transportation fell 10.4% in Moldova as compared with the same period of 2011 and made up 3 mln. t.

This is the most drastic decline of cargo transportation in CIS. However, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, since April, 2012 Moldova has seen the growth in cargo transportation volumes. They grew 0.3% in April and 26.3% in May as comapred with the same period of 2011.
