OREANDA-NEWS. July 09, 2012. The Gazprom headquarters hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company's Management Committee, and Alexander Khudilainen, Head of Karelia.

The main subject discussed at the meeting was provision of gas supply to the republic. It has been mentioned that thanks to the teamwork of Gazprom and the Government of Karelia in 2007–2011 gas service was installed in 16 localities of the republic, seven gas-burning boiler houses were commissioned. The level of provision of gas supply in Karelia has grown by 2.6%, but still remains low and makes 4.4% (compared to 63.2% on the average across Russia). Thus, the work concerning provision of gas supply to Karelia goes on.

In 2012 Gazprom has launched construction of two gas mains between settlements in territory of the region in the general extent of 43 km. Besides, now the company is carrying out design and survey works on construction of 18 gas mains between settlements in Olonets, Pitkaranta, Sortavala and Lahdenpohja regions of Karelia.

On the basis of offers received from the Government of Karelia, Gazprom has developed The Program of Development of Gas Supply and Gas Service in the Republic of Karelia in 2012–2015 that is currently submitted to the regional Government for endorsement.
