OREANDA-NEWS. July 10, 2012. On July 11,  2012  the ESTA  Holding  Company  will  file the  architectural  project  of  Kyiv  Central  department  store  to  the  City  Planning  Council  under the Main  Administration  of  City  Planning  and  Architecture  of  Kyiv  city.  The  presentation  of  the  project  of  future  department  store  will  be made  by  Larysa  Skoryk,  a Ukrainian  architect,  a Professor of the  National  Academy  of  Arts  and  Architecture.  The  members  of  the  City  Planning  Council  including the  Chief Architect  of  Kyiv  Sergey  Tselovalnik, the Chairman  of  Kyiv  city  organization  of the National  Union  of  Architects  of  Ukraine  Vadim  Zhezherin,  the Honoured  Architect of  Ukraine  Yanosh  Vig  and  others will  evaluate  the  project.

"In  accordance  with the current  legislation  the  decisions  of  the  City  Planning  Council  will  be  advisory.  However,  considering  the  importance  and  uniqueness  of  the  Central Department  Store  for  the  city  and  its residents  we  have  decided  to  propose the  project  for  public  consideration  and  discussion. -  said  Maksim  Gromadtsov, the Executive  Director  of  the ESTA Holding Company.  –  As the  result  of  project  discussion,  the  opinions  of  key  Ukrainian architectural experts  will  be   taken  into  account".

The  concept  of  the renewed  Central  department  store  was  developed  by the  famous English  architectural  bureau  Benoy in cooperation with  the  Ukrainian  architectural  studio  "L. Skoryk." The key  factors  for  deciding  in  favor  of  Benoy  has  been  the  rich  experience  of  this company in reconstruction  of  historic  buildings  and  construction  of  retail  objects.

As the  result  of  the  reconstruction  the ESTA  Group  plans  to  double  the  total  area  of  the  store - up  to  37 740 m2  and  construct  the  underground  parking  lot with  200  places  using  the area  of  courtyard  and  underground space.  All the structures of  the Central  Department  Store  except  facades  will  be  disassembled.  Main  facades  of  the  building, constructed in 1939,  will be kept intact  and reinforced.

The Central  department  store  will  keep its  format  of  a traditional  department  store,  with the attraction of professional operators who understand  the  market,  offering a democratic  pricing  policy  and  wide  range  of  goods.  On  two  underground  levels there  will  be  a  parking  lot,  from  first  to sixth floor — men’s,  women’s  and  children’s  clothing  and  household goods,  and  cafes and restaurants will be situated on the roof  with  overview  terrace.  The  project  also  includes  a food  department  that  will  be  convenient  to  those  who  live  and  work  in  close proximity  to  the  Central  Department Store.

“It’s  important  for  us  to  create  something  truly  unique,  that’s  why  we  invited the best  international  architectural experts into the project.  We  are  sure  that the new  building  of  the  Central  Department  Store  with  its incredible  combination  of  historic  facades  and  a light, comfortable  and  modern  interior  will  serve  a  new  place  of  attraction in Kyiv  for  Kyivers and  guests  of  the capital”—  concluded  Mr.  Gromadtsov.
