OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2012. Total cargo throughput at the Port Vostochny (excluding crude shipments at Kozmino terminal) in January-June 2012 increased by 10.4% compared to the same period last year, to 13.01 million tons, the Port Authority said.

Exports of coal, coke, (including charge and anthracite) rose 14.7% to 10.91 million tons, oil product shipments fell 5.5% year-on-year, to 296,800 tons. Container traffic increased by 17.7% - to 191,320 TEUs.

Port Vostochny (East Port) is the year-round navigable and the deepest port of the Russian Far East region. Vostochny Port is located on the coast Japan Sea, 20 km from the terminus of Trans-Siberian Railroad - the city of Nakhodka. Vostochny port is able to accommodate 280-meter long, 40-meter wide vessels with draft up to 15.5 m. The port’s stevedore companies operate16 cargo berths, a few auxiliary berths at the terminals for handling coal, containers, fertilizer, methanol, timber, bulk and general cargo. In 2011, cargo throughput at Port Vostochny (excluding Kozmino’s figures) rose to 23.15 million tons from 20.34 million tons a year earlier.
