OREANDA-NEWS. July 13, 2012. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, opening the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, stressed the need to modernize agriculture in order to ensure price stability for agricultural products.

"Prospects of development of the industrial production of grain in Ukraine are extremely high. But in order to realize the full potential of our lands, we have much to do" - the Prime Minister said, stressing that the key challenge now for the agricultural sector is the rational use of land and increase productivity.

For this purpose, according to Mykola Azarov, a number of innovative solutions must be introduced in the grain production – from the use of high-yielding varieties and hybrids to the introduction of new technologies for growing crops using modern engineering.

"The government is ready to "lend its shoulder" to farmers. Modernization of agriculture will ensure price stability in agricultural products" – PM stressed.

He also noted that the Government supports the revival of domestic livestock by introducing long-term program for the payment of subsidies for the feeding of young cattle.
