OREANDA-NEWS.  July 13, 2012. POSCO will expand its sales of high-end hot-rolled stainless steel which will replace expensive imported materials, reported the press-centre of POSCO.

POSCO has been aggressively promoted products that can replace expensive imported materials through its marketing and field sales activities.

The client companies have had difficulties in keeping supply and demand of imported high-end hot-rolled stainless steel in balance not only because it is expensive but also its timely procurement from overseas is not easy. Therefore, POSCO`s sales expansion of high-end hot-rolled stainless steel is expected to contribute to meeting product demand from client companies.

The high-end hot-rolled stainless steel products developed by POSCO are ATOS for automotive use which can substitute the products made by Sweden, Japan, etc. and Ancor-H, advanced steel with sulfuric acid corrosion resistance. These products guarantee excellent quality equivalent to imported goods at much lower prices. Since ATOS is more than 300,000 won cheaper per ton and Ancor-H is about 150,000 won cheaper per ton than imported counterparts, client companies may cut costs significantly for purchasing the materials.

POSCO supplied 1,800 tons of Ancor-H for domestic thermal power generation in last April. Ancor-H will be supplied later as construction materials for Dangjin and Boryeong Thermal Power Plants so that it is expected to be widely used for domestic power generation facilities and equipment.

POSCO has been developing a next-generation Ancor-H which is more resistant to corrosion at similar costs to imported goods and plans to supply the product in earliest starting the second half of the year.
