OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2012. Belarus-based farming machinery producer Gomselmash and Russia’s Rostselmash Group may establish a united holding company, which will hold stakes in both enterprises, Belarus’ First Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko told reporters Friday.

“It was our idea to establish a holding company, which will hold stakes in Gomselmash and Rostselmash,” Semashko said referring to the Belarusian government. In fact, the idea is very similar to the deal between MAZ and Russia’s KamAZ, Semashko said.

After the parties have agreed on the stakes to be controlled by the united holding company, the new business alliance will pursue a single policy on the market, Semashko said. “Today there should not be any competition against one another. Over the last few years Gomselmash and Rostselmash have been acting as rivals competing on the market. Instead of competing, the parties should get united,” the vice premier said.

Rostselmash Group, which includes 12 companies, is among the world’ top five producers of farming machinery.

Gomselmash Production Association was founded in 1978 on the core of the Gomselmash plant, which was founded in 1930. It is one of the largest producers of agricultural equipment in the CIS and Europe. It manufactures self-propelled and towed harvesters, crushing mowing machines, grain combine harvesters and mounted shredding mowing machines. The company also offers precise seeders, tractor trailers and ploughs, mini-tractors shipped with sets of mounted tools, tree planters, mounted timber loaders, car trailers.
