OREANDA-NEWS. July 17, 2012. In  line with the programme for knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences among the national oil corporations in the GCC, Qatar Petroleum’s Dukhan Operations hosted on July 2-3 a delegation from Saudi Aramco for a technical discussion on the installation of VIEC technology at Fahahil South Degassing Station (FSDGS), reported the press-centre of QP.

VIEC, which stands for Vessel Internal Electrostatic Coalescer, is a technology for efficiently separating oil and water, thus improving the quality of crude oil.

After being welcomed by Dukhan’s Production Department, the delegation attended a presentation on VIEC technology and this was followed by a detailed discussion on the technical aspects of the project. The delegation later visited the site to view the project installation and see the technology at work.

“Such visits are beneficial to both Qatar Petroleum and Saudi Aramco. We are always ready to assist in improving the operations and in supporting the development of industrial facilities within all GCC countries, and this is also one of the objectives of QP,” said Mr. Juma Ali Al-Buainain, Manager Production – Dukhan Fields.

 He emphasized that QP’s Dukhan Operations under the leadership of Mr. Ahmed Saif Al-Sulaiti seeks to encourage the exchange of information with other oil companies in the GCC countries to benefit and exchange of experiences, according to the directives of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP.
