OREANDA-NEWS. July 17, 2012. Qatar Petroleum (QP) and the Ministry of Interior (MOI) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding related to the housing and recreational facilities’ requirements of MOI staff who are based in Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC), reported the press-centre of QP.

The new agreement is in line with the previous MOU signed by the two parties in November last year for the setting up of an Integrated Security Complex at MIC.

The latest MOU was signed on behalf of QP by Eng. Mohammed Jassim Al-Baker, Director Mesaieed, and by Brig. Mohammed Jassim Al-Sulaiti, Director of South Security Department, on behalf of MOI. The signing ceremony, which was held on July 4 at MIC Management Building in Mesaieed Town, was attended by many senior officials from both QP and the ministry.

Under the agreement, MOI will manage and maintain the existing 70 villas within the MOI accommodation complex, and the ministry will also build a new mosque to replace the existing wooden mosque used by its personnel. In addition, as part of the MOU, the ministry will be turning over three plots of land, after demolishing the existing three old buildings on the area, to MIC’s discretion as per its Development Master Plan. In return, MIC will be providing MOI with new lands of the same size, where the ministry will build three tall replacement buildings.

“This new agreement is another affirmation of our close relations and high level of cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, and it also reflects our long-standing commitment to provide MIC residents with all essential facilities and services, ranging from housing facilities, security and many other aspects required for sustainable development,” said Eng. Al-Baker in his comments on the occasion.

Among the other senior QP officials who also were present at the event were Mr. Maliq Omer Esmail Al-Dafea, Manager for Municipal & Facilities Services at MIC; Mr. Khalid Ahmed Asad N. Al-Ansari, Manager for Health, Safety, Environment & Waste Management; Mr. Antoine Najib Haykal Nasser, Acting Manager for Infrastructure; and Mr. Maisar El Qutami, MIC Technical Coordinator and Acting Manager of Business & Investors.
