OREANDA-NEWS. July 19, 2012. Power Machines OJSC has completed the process of shipment of the eighth set of generator equipment produced to retrofit the hydro units at Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP belonging to RusHydro JSC.

Power Machines also continue shipping ready-made nodes of turbine equipment and the next generator. So far three of the seven deliverable nodes for the ninth generator have been shipped by rail to the customer. The rest of the generator equipment is to be produced in Q3 and the turbine equipment – in Q4 of the current year.

Moreover, in July and August the Company is going to ship two next consignments of oversized nodes that comprise four impellers and parts of hydro generator equipment by water. Within the framework of this project, they are going to be the last consignments of large-sized equipment designed for the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP hydro units.

Power Machines and RusHydro JSC signed a contract to produce main power generation equipment for the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP overhaul in November 2009. According to the contract, Power Machines are to produce 10 hydro turbines and nine hydro generators with a capacity of 640 MW each as well as six excitation systems. In addition, Power Machines specialists are going to provide services for the installation of the equipment supplied, including installation supervision and commissioning works.

The service life of new hydro units is to extend up to 40 years, while the hydro turbine maximum efficiency is going to amount to 96.6%. Its output and cavitation performance are going to enhance. The turbines will also be equipped with an advanced process protection system, which automatically shuts down the unit if any unacceptable performance deviations of monitored parameters occur.
