OREANDA-NEWS.  July 20, 2012. Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), Anatoly Golomolzin, and First Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, Sergey Komyakov, signed an Agreement “On Cooperation between the Regional Government and the Federal Antimonopoly Service”, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

According to the parties, the Agreement will become an effective mechanism of cooperation in organizing events aimed at protecting competition and creating conditions for efficient market performance.

The parties pointed out that robust joint efforts of the authorities would facilitate more detailed control for rendering state and municipal needs, and compliance with the law on procurement of goods and деятельности holders of natural monopolies.

The Agreement is also aimed at improving information exchange, in particular, verifying whether prices for energy carriers and socially important goods are justified.

“We observe a considerable number of violations of the antimonopoly law, particularly, in electric power industry”, pointed out Anatoly Golomolzin. “At the same time there are several issues that we intend to discuss under the framework of creating favorable competition conditions on the market rather than suppressing these violations”.

Under the Agreement, the Government of the Chelyabinsk Region and FAS Russia plan to organize mutual consultations, working meetings and workshops. The parties do not exclude establishing working groups to coordinate their efforts.
