OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2012. Now the under-annular floor foundation is getting nearer to mark -7.50. Completion of these works will be a milestone in the process of reactor foundation arrangement at the first power unit of Baltic NPP.

The concreting of reactor's foundation was performed by the builders from JSC TITANSTROYMONTAZH in spring of the current year. In the course of these works they laid about 5.5 thousand m3 of concrete. The reactor basis is of non-standard round shape. So, to perform the related works a specialized project was required which was made by the holding's specialists along with the representatives of contractor general, customer and designer of the power plant.

In 2012, TITAN-2 holding's companies will have to perform up to 50% of the total scope of works at the construction site of the Baltic NPP. The number of the holding's employees at the site is 450. 328 of them are the residents of the Kaliningrad region. 130 units of machines are operated at the site and nearby, which are the part of the holding companies' own fleet of machines and mechanisms.

TITAN-2 Holding is the largest Group of Companies in the North-West of Russia which erects the most important facilities of nuclear industry and power engineering and performs the full cycle of building and assembly work, from development of design documentation to the facility commissioning. The Holding consists of about 20 organizations and employs about 4,000 employees with more than 40-year-experience in construction of unique and super-complicated facilities. The management company and the key engineering business-unit of the holding is the Company JSC CONCERN TITAN-2.

The project of the Baltic NPP implies construction of two power units with the 1150-MW-VVER-reactor and heating power 250 Gcal/hr each. The expected useful life of the Baltic NPP is 50 years, and that of the key equipment is 60 years. The first power unit is to be commissioned in 2016m and the second one in 2018. Location of the power plant is to the north-east of the Kaliningrad region, about 15 km away from the town of Neman. The construction management company for the Baltic NPP is Rosenergoatom Concern, JSC. The contractor general is JSC NIAEP.
