Tata Power’s Jojobera Thermal Power Station was conferred the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award for 2012 by Mr. Karan Singh, eminent educationalist and parliamentarian at the 14th World Congress on environment management in New Delhi on 7th July 2012, Saturday.

A jury chaired by Justice PN Bhagwati, former CJI and member, UN Human Rights Commission selected Jojobera Thermal Power Station for the award. Mr. D. S. Kudalkar, Head – Jojobera Station and Mr. S. D. Bhattacharjee, Head - Chemical & Environment department at Jojobera received the award given in recognition of excellence in environment management.

On 8th July the team also gave a presentation to highlight the  various initiatives and achievements in the field of Environment Management at Jojobera.

Golden Peacock Awards were set up by Institute of Directors in 1992. Golden Peacock Awards Secretariat receives over 1,000 entries per year for various national and global awards from India and over 25 countries worldwide. The Golden Peacock Environment Management Award (GPEMA) instituted by the World Environment Foundation (WEF) in 1998 is conferred annually.

Mr. D. S. Kudalkar, Head – Jojobera Thermal Power Station said, “The award is a recognition by eminent juries of our commitment and efforts towards Environment conservation. This is one of the Milestone in our journey of continual improvement.”
