OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2012. In order to solve the housing problem in Ukraine the Government has set a very difficult and ambitious task: to take every year in operation an average of 100 thousand apartments. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said this during the inauguration a new house built in Kyi build under the State target program of economic and social construction (purchase) of affordable housing.

According to him, there are significant changes in the matter of providing people with housing, but the problem still remains unsolved.

The Prime Minister recalled that 1.5 million Ukrainians are in line for getting an affordable housing. "This line practically from the 80s has been frozen and we must talk honestly and frankly about this. It moves quite slowly" - Mykola Azarov said. He added that within the program of affordable housing during a year can be put into operation an average of eight thousand apartments, "It is many more times than previously had been realized, but it is certainly not enough in terms to solve the housing problem in the country" .

Mykola Azarov noted that the housing problem could be removed if we build approximately 100 thousand apartments annually.

According to the Prime Minister, the construction of such apartments will stimulate the economy: GDP will grow, real wages will increase, new jobs will be created, industrial and metallurgical plants will be loaded, etc.

The Head of Government noted that Ukrainian experts are now studying the experience of European countries for the construction of low-cost but quality housing. "Our experts have visited Europe, studied the experience of industrial housing with low cost per square meter. We want to that industrial housing in Ukraine costs below 5 thousand UAH per square meter, but have a high European quality of these apartments. The implementation of such programs will increase in times housing in the country and solve the housing problem for our people", - Mykola Azarov said.
