Recently years, the important components of Baosteel digital development -- numerical simulation has not only gained more and more attention from Baosteel researchers, but also got very good application to play an active role for Baosteel's production and operation from offline material design, product development to online product trial, process parameter optimization like economical design of dual-phase stainless steel, 20 Sendzimir rolling parameter optimization, UOE forming simulation. Experts believe that Baosteel has been in the forefront of the industry and at the advanced level in the research and application of numerical simulation, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.  

By the use of computer numerical calculation and analysis, due to its low investment, short study period, and high efficiency, numerical simulation is widely used in the research under complicated conditions, mutiparameters influence, method difficult to use physical simulation. As early as ten years ago, Baosteel began to carry out numerical simulation study. Three years ago, Baosteel Institute earnestly implemented the "digital research and development" to support the production management and specially set up material design, flow and heat transfer, rolling simulation, structural analysis and plate forming of five different departments and interdisciplinary numerical simulation team to accelerate the numerical simulation of research and application in Baosteel.

In Three years, Baosteel modular development team achieved gratifying results with careful research and development applications from materials to products, from engineering to online product quality improvement. To respond to the changes in the market, Baosteel researchers using numerical simulation technology, rapidly developed new materials and new products to make its become the accelerator of  product innovation. From melting to final products, the development of general products took a long cycle, low efficiency, and high cost, while economical double-phase stainless steel B2102 by the use of numerical simulation development, with short time, low cost, product substitution wire with 304 austenitic stainless steel received recognition by the customers.

Numerical simulation also played a good role in resolving product quality defects. Researchers development of calculation model for integration of Sendzimir for calculating rolling process improvement optimization provided the theoretical calculation basis, which can not only be a guide to solve practical problems, but also can be used to optimize and improve the rolling control models. Baosteel intervened more than 80% domestic new vehicles in advance through numerical simulation of material provided basic data for selection, optimization, numerical simulation technology to shorten new model development cycles, improve the quality of new model development, guarantee the stability of production, and play an important role to tailor for the customer in car plate. Annually, only plate forming numerical simulation team for car customers provided hundreds of virtual punching computing services.

At present, there are a large number of Baosteel annual institute numerical simulation case used in the production of field research, product development, project construction, customer service and other fields. The numerical experiment has become a fast, convenient and high precision research tool to serve in the company.
