OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2012. The event "Passenger Hour" was held for the first time at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. The organizers were the Line Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Domodedovo Airport. The event was devoted to the security system of the airport. Domodedovo security and police officers , the experts of Transaero and S7 airlines have familiarized the passengers and media with the technical inspection devices at the entrances to the passenger terminal and the peculiarities of the airport police canine service.

Continuously improving the security system of the airport, the largest aviation harbor of the country has significantly increased the amount of staff of its police canine service: now it numbers 24 dogs. All animals - English Cocker Spaniels and German Shepherds - have been specially trained for and now are engaged in searching for explosives. To reinforce the police canine service, the airport has spent more than 540,000 rubles, while the monthly cost of maintenance and training of dogs has increased by half a million rubles. In 2012, the police canine service personnel was trained in the Rostov Service-Search Dog-breeding School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. Now security at the airport is guarded by 24 officers each working with a search dog.

During the "Passenger Hour" everyone could see how specially trained search dogs are protecting the safety of passengers: Visitors were invited to leave their bags in the passenger terminal building, and each bag was promptly found and tested for the presence of explosives by the canine dog service of Domodedovo Airport.
