OREANDA-NEWS. August 08, 2012. The new head of the Moldovan Main State Tax Inspectorate, Nicolae Vicol, made public the priorities of his activity at a briefing.

Vicol said he would take efforts to improve the fiscal management "by meliorating the activity of the tax inspectorate", by combating multinational frauds and what he called "merry-go-round fraud", which is a sort of fiscal evasion via phantom companies. "I state that the operation of phantom companies is a crime against the nation," Vicol said.

Nicolae Vicol promised support to honest taxpayers, who, he said, would be treated with indulgency provided that they want to legalize their businesses. He said he would create single desks for small entrepreneurs willing to work on a single-tax basis [called patent in Moldova], so that they no longer need to apply for approvals at a range of state services.

"Every citizen and every taxpayer should be informed about the rules of the fiscal game in this country in order to open businesses and not to become hostages of fraudulent scams," Vicol said.
Nicolae Vicol was appointed head of the Main State Tax Inspectorate after Nicolae Platon was dismissed at the request of Prime Minister Vlad Filat.
