OREANDA-NEWS. August 15, 2012. The installation of a condenser – one of the large-size turbine plant assemblies – has been completed under the supervision of Power Machines’ specialists at Leningradskaya NPP-2 (LNPP-2), reported the press-centre of Power Machines.

In May 2008 Power Machines and Atomenergoprom JSC signed contracts to supply a complete set of main equipment for fitting out of the turbine hall at Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 (NVNPP-2) and LNPP-2 being under construction. The total contract value amounts to over 40 billion rubles. Two power units with VVER-type reactors (each having an electric capacity of 1200 MW) are being built at each of the nuclear plants.

In autumn 2011 Power Machines produced most of the assemblies of a high-speed turbine with a capacity of 1200 MW and a fully water-cooled turbogenerator with the same capacity for the first unit of LNPP-2. At present Power Machines are finishing to hand over the remaining assemblies of turbine equipment (lubrication and adjustment system equipment) and a complete set of the turbogenerator process control system to the customer. All the equipment produced is kept under custody at Power Machines’ storage facilities.

The 1200 MW high-speed steam turbines and turbine generators for NPPs are innovative products specifically developed by Power Machines for new-generation nuclear power units having increased reliability and safety. Such power units are being built in Russia within the framework of NPP-2006 project.

New design solutions and technologies has been implemented during engineering and manufacturing of K-1200-6,8/50 steam turbines, taking into account the experience of engineering and manufacturing of turbines for Kudankulam NPP (India), Bushehr NPP (Iran) and operating of turbines at Tianwan NPP (China), built by Rosatom enterprises.

Under the terms of these contracts at the first stage Power Machines are to provide engineering, manufacturing and supply of two complete sets of steam turbines, condensers and separate auxiliary equipment of turbine plant systems, as well as two complete sets of turbogenerators including auxiliary systems equipment, excitation systems and an exciter for the first power units of NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2. Power Machines, as a supplier of complete sets of the turbine plant equipment, will also supply heat exchanging and pumping equipment, pipelines and necessary accessories. Moreover, Power Machines will carry out supervision during installation and commissioning of all the equipment supplied at the NPP sites.

At the second stage Power Machines will provide the supply of similar equipment and services for the second power units of NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2.

NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2 are the first nuclear power stations to be built from scratch in Russia within the last 15 years.
