OREANDA-NEWS.  August 16, 2012. Five young specialists of OJSC "Perm Engine Company" showed high results at the Second International youth industrial forum "Engineers of the future 2012", which was held on the bank of the lake Baikal in the Big Goloustnoye (Irkutsk region) village and gathered together more than 1,500 Russian specialists, scientists, postgraduates and students from 355 industrial companies and more than 50 leading technical universities of the country.

Perm motor builders won three medal places and got total 8th place in the top-50 corporative rating of the companies, participating in the forum. "PMZ" specialists yielded the palm only to the more numerous delegations of the largest Russian manufacturers, such as, for example, OJSC "Corporation "Irkut", OJSC "KamAZ", OJSC "Avtovaz".

One of the most significant events of the forum was the first-time held inter-branch competition of lean-projects, which was organized by the corporative university of OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM" together with the department of the production system development of OJSC "MC "UEC" and directors of the production system development of OJSC "Company Sukhoy". The purpose of the competition was determining of the best scenarios of the modification of the activities of engineering industry companies with the application of project approach and lean-tooling, and also exchange of the experience between the enterprises included into the corporation.

Naturally, 16 projects from 8 enterprises competed in the contest, all of them connected with the different types of activities: from office processes to production re-structuring.  The competition commission, comprised from the top-managers of lean-departments of aircraft and engine building enterprises estimated the projects' feasibility and achieved their economical effect.  The following nominations were awarded: "Potential projects", Economical effect projects", "The best innovative project" and "The best universal project". The great attention was given to the innovativeness of the projects and possibility of their application at other enterprises.

According to the results of the competition the nomination "Economical effect projects" was awarded to the project "Modification of the fan blades production site" by Maxim Balashov, the leading engineer of OJSC "PMZ" Department of production system development.  This project demonstrated, how decreasing the size of the batch of the items machined could lead to diminishing of the volume of unfinished manufacturing and thereby rebate more than 14 mln rubles.  Optimization of the batch from 33 to 7 pieces resulted in getting positive economical effect, organizing rhythmical production flow and decreasing production cycle from 64 to 44 days, at once raising the rhythm of delivery of the fan blades to the finish assembly.

One more project "Increasing of the repair detection site output at OJSC ‘PMZ"" (by Uliya Bondarenko, another specialist of OJSC "PMZ" Department of production system development) became the best universal project. Realization of this project supposes uniting the processes of disassembly, fault finding and rinsing of gas turbine engines at the one production site, executing the functions of one-stage disassembly and fault detection. Due to this, mechanical shops of the enterprise discharge the functions of disassembly and fault finding, which allows increasing the output from 5 to 12 machine sets per month and decreasing production cycle of disassembly and fault finding of an engine to 10 business days.

Educational program of "Engineers of the future 2012" forum - training the specialist at Strategic management department - included contests in strategic management on the base of computer business-simulator Global Management Challenge, imitating the process of company management in the conditions of global competition. On request of the Corporative university of OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM" the contests were organized by the team of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.    Thanks to the firm execution of the strategy, originally chosen (decreasing the prime cost of the production by means of technical modernization of production base), the team of OJSC ‘PMZ", comprising Alexander Zukanov, engineer-programmer, and Natalya Malkova,  the Head of the technical bureau of the blade casting shop, won the third medal place. Now Perm motor builders, as well as other winners of the business-game, will represent the company at the world management championship Global Management Challenge, in which more than 50 thousand people from 30 countries will participate.
