OREANDA-NEWS.  August 22, 2012. Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU) has earned a Best Practices Award from ABILITY Magazine for its commitment to programs that offer training, opportunity and ongoing support to people with disabilities, reported the press-centre of Prudential. 

The magazine states that Prudential is consistently ranked as a top employer for diversity and is currently a lead sponsor and co-developer of VETalent, a program for veterans that prepares them for IT or operations positions.

Prudential is also cited for starting the business resource group ADAPT (Abled and Disabled Associates Partnering Together). ABILITY mentions that ADAPT started as the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Network, but broadened its focus in 2002 to be inclusive of all disabilities. Its workshops include both internal and external speakers. Topics range from personal journeys with disabilities to cutting-edge assistive technology. ABILITY also recognized ADAPT’s 10-week summer internship program for college students and adults with disabilities noting that the Company has successfully placed several interns into full-time positions.

ABILITY Magazine Best Practices Award is designed to single out and celebrate those business practices that have a high level of commitment to inclusion and ingenuity, demonstrate positive results in their efforts, and possess the potential to inspire other organizations.
