OREANDA-NEWS. August 22, 2012. State subsidies for the maintenance and safety of young cattle are gaining momentum. In July peasant’ farmers applied twice as many applications than in June. Since the beginning of the program it has been received more than 107.4 thousand applications for maintenance of 152.5 thousand calves amounting 66.8 million UAH. This testifies to the success of the program and makes sure that the cattle stock has increased for the first time in two decades.

Recall subsidies was launched in Ukraine in June 2012 as a part of the budget program "State support of the livestock industry." During this time, the number of applications from farmers has increased from nearly 2.5 million in May to 152 thousand. This popularity of this program is due to favorable terms offered to producers.

So, this year, the state has provided 1 billion UAH subsidies to farmers for the maintenance of young cattle. For the calf at the age of 3 to 5 months the farmer will receive 250 UAH; from six to eight months – 500 UAH, from 9 to 11 months - 750 UAH and from 12 to 15 months - 1000 UAH. Subsidy is not taxable. Over the next three full months for the maintenance of the young cattle the owner will be able to receive 250 UAH until 15 months of age of the head.

Payment of subsidies is beneficial not only the owners, who receive financial support and income, as well as the state, as ordered registration of cattle, accordingly, the amount of milk and meat entering the market. Today we can see the trend of growth of cattle, which has not been seen in 20 years.

The future plans of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food - put the program on a permanent basis. This will not only increase the livestock, but also the opportunity to create farmer’s farms.
