OREANDA-NEWS. August 23, 2012. The `Thanks Sharing` activities in which POSCO`s employees are voluntarily participating are contributing to forming a lovable company, giving confidence to employees by creating a happy workplace, and spreading to local community, reported the press-centre of POSCO.

POSCO has been carrying out thanks sharing activities since the end of last year to heighten employees` positive mind.

Especially, Pohang Steelworks carried out voluntarily thanks sharing activities at the smallest organization level of Chief•SV units, bringing about voluntary participation by having leader levels take the lead to set an example.

This campaign in which 96% of the employees are participating is being spread country-wide, going beyond Pohang City Hall and town, township, and neighborhood offices, to the Public Prosecutor`s Office, Steel Industrial Complex, and sister villages.

Pohang Steelworks has encouraged thanks sharing activities based on employees` voluntary participation and free practicing, including activities such as using positive words, writing 5 thanks and 100 thanks, writing letters of love to colleagues and family, posting facility thanks stickers, opening a thanks sharing blog, and sharing case studies. Management and leaders also sent thank you cards to employees and proactively supported activities of the Thanks Club.

These thanks sharing activities are bringing about positive changes both at work and home, creating a positive virtuous cycle.

Employees carried out the `Start Changing Myself First` campaign, brightening expressions into smiles from frowns, taking interest to colleagues who you were indifferent, starting to care and commend them. These activities naturally led to thanks to not only colleagues, but also superiors, equipment, and family, changing the atmosphere both on the work site and at home, thus contributing to increasing corporate competitiveness.

Pohang Steelworks` thanks sharing activities which have brought along great positive changes in both the workplace and at home are systematically being carried out with many government institutions, military camps, and universities coming to benchmark the activities.

Pohang Steelworks with a recent request by the City of Pohang formed the `Pan-Pohang Execution Council` while also organizing the `Pan-Pohang Thanks Sharing Execution Headquarters` to support thanks sharing in the Pohang region.

The Company is also supporting companies and organizations that wish to introduce thanks sharing activities by offering training.

Until August 14th, Pohang Steelworks also spread thanks sharing know-how through approximately 90 lectures at Pohang City Hall, Public Prosecutor`s Office, prison, and the Steel Industrial Complex by 20 or so instructors trained by the Company

Pohang Steelworks plans to proactively carry out the `thanks sharing hub role` for 125 sister communities, Steel Industrial Complex, military sites, and independent organizations to settle in thanks sharing activities as POSCO`s unique corporate culture.
