OREANDA-NEWS. August 23, 2012. Specialists of Atomenergoproekt are engaged in the final stage of drafting new revision of technical requirements of EUR, European Utility Requirements for LWR Nuclear Power Plants, which would cover designs of new generation light-water reactors, reported the press-centre of Rosatom.

A decision to write the fourth, modern revision of the EUR requirements was made in 2010. Specialists of Atomenergoproekt participate in the work on the updated revision (coded with “D” letter) jointly with employees of other organizations of the Russian nuclear industry and western experts representing the EUR organization. The new revision is planned to be fully available by the end of 2012.

According to Andrey Kuchumov, Deputy Director for Engineering of Atomenergoproekt, the company has significantly contributed to drafting the D Revision of the technical requirements. “Our employees, as experts, have fulfilled the work they were charged with as far back as 2011. They established interaction with the western colleagues and won their trust. As recognition of authority of the Atomenergoproekt specialists, they were invited to join the drafting of all sections of the technical requirements: to consult, make proposals and corrections. For example, our representatives attended a meeting of the basic group for the development of technical requirements held in Lyons,” he noted.

The drafting of the D Revision requirements is carried out with the account taken of features of VVER-TOI design, which is planned to submit for the EUR certification. The EUR certificate will raise an export potential of the VVER-TOI design.

The VVER-TOI development (done within the information environ a type optimized project of a nuclear power unit of large capacity based on the VVER technology) will allow reducing costs of design, construction, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of power units.
